Dog Ear worked with Indiana State to redesign and re-launch its print magazine—newly branded as State—plus a complementary website. The university’s previous print magazine, Indiana State University Magazine, ceased publication in 2010, with a move to online-only content. As part of an overall re-branding effort for ISU, the university hired our team to spearhead the design and editorial of the new print and web editions. Additionally, four of the university’s colleges had been simultaneously publishing their own separate magazines, with no unified brand, editorial voice, or distribution method. The launching of State unified those disparate publications into a single publication with equally distributed coverage, a stronger editorial voice, and a bolder design.

“Dog Ear’s content and design critiques are very objective and actionable. It has helped us to evolve our magazine strategy over the last five years, and to keep up with the industry changes and trends.”
